I am thinking of upgrading my HDD on my X61. I currently have a 120 GB at 5k400. I am asking for your opinion. Do you think I will see an improvement? Is there a noticeable improvement from 7k200 to 10k? What about the heat and noise.

Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

To what 10K rpm hard drive? If you were planning on using a WD VelociRaptor without the IcePAQ, the drive is too tall and doesn't fit in notebooks. Better luck next time.

Why do you even want a 10000 RPM HDD in an ultraportable? Sure, it'll be faster, but it's definitely going to use more power... Don't think there's 2.5" 10000 rpm notebook drives either

seagate actually have a 15Krpm 2.5" drive, but unless you have an extra 6-8mm of height space and a datacenter in your ultrabay, stick with the 7200 rpm.
