Hi team. Quick question for you all: can the ThinkPad X61 accept a 4GB full size or half size Turbo Memory card?

if you have 2gb ram or more
you should go with the no-size turbo memory card

i have 4gb ram AND 4gb turbo memory.

i bought the turbo memory under the mistaken impression that the 4gb ram-worth of stuff can go into the 4gb turbo memory in hibernation (silly me). in reality the stuff in ram gets loaded into the turbo memory and the harddisk at the same time, so it's kind of even better.

the main advantage for me now is the (seemingly) faster bootup and the (seemingly) faster hibernation. (especially considering i only have a 1.8" hdd)

I supposed you are looking for a 4GB Turbo memory for X61 and you will need a full size. Had them before in both my X series but do not see any realistic improvement made to your system but rather sacrificing the stability. A SSD will be a better investment and I had since removed them.

it means don't use turbo memory if you have more than 2gb ram
if you have more than 2gb ram and you put in turbo memory
your computer will actually run slower

Either you strip the Turbo Memory off your system, or you could download an app from Lenovo site to disable it. That of course if you are running a thinkpad.
