How does the build quality of these two compare? I've noticed people in the forums lately mentioned that lenovo build quality isn't what it used to be. Also, the x61 is priced cheaper than the x60 on lenovo's website. That seems very strange...

I would expect a company to lower the price on old models to make way for the new ones...

Perhaps the X61's are just using cheaper materials?

All indications are that the X61 build quality is just as good as the X60. In the case of the T series they even added a magnesium roll cage to the screen on the T61, making it stronger than ever.

I believe Lenovo is reducing their prices on the new models in order to remain competitive. They are also saving money by not offering international warranties on most new models.

The X61 I have is built VERY well. Compared to my t60 the only part that is any weaker is the screen cover, but its comparing a 15" LCD cover to an ultraportable 12.1" cover.
