    X61 noise - high pitched etching sound

    coming from left side around the vent to bottomish area. A etch etch etch sound. Kind of sounds like what hard drive would sound like, except way louder than normal. It didn't do this when I first got the computer.

    Under warranty still, should I have it serviced. Any tips on dealing with their warranty service.

    i dont know why this happens, but afaik it does no harm - my laptop does that too
