I was wondering why there was a decrease in the price of a 2.2 Ghz processor over the 2.0 processor for the X61 laptops on lenovo's website.

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 NV (2.0GHz, 2MB L2, 800MHz FSB)
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz, 4MB L2, 800MHz FSB)
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 NV (2.2GHz, 4MB L2, 800MHz FSB)

The first processor the price is $1020, the second its $1070, the third its $960.

Can anyone explain why the fastest processor is also the cheapest for the X61? I ordered this processor because it was the fastest and just now noticed that it was also the cheapest!

Rumor has it the NV chips do not have the hardware assist virtualization and are therefore a little cheaper. As for the first to last, it could be supply/demand. With the 7700/7800/7900, the slower chips are probably in lower demand and less available.

NV was stated from what I read on LenovoBlogs is Normal Voltage...As for the T7500 being cheaper than the T7250, I have no clue but like how ZaZ stated it, take it as a gift.

it is because it is a NV processor..uses more power i believe..resulting in a lower battery life

I just checked. The third one (T7500 NV) also brings the total to $1070, same as the second one, T7300.

By the way, I ran Intel Processor Utility (or something like that) with my X61 (bought with T7500NV selected), the T7500NV in my laptop does support Intel Virtualization Technology. So NV is definitely not "No Virtualization", as already revealed in Lenovo's blog.
