    Hey guys!

I got my x61 a year ago, and I'm totally pleased with it.

The only problem is that i had to sell my desktop, and I used to play unreal tournament, the first series for about 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.

So I installed it on my thinkpad, and it runs great.
    For about 3 minutes.
After that, fps drops to about 20, and it becomes unplayable.

I guess it gets overheated or something.

The game is like more than 8 years old, i shouldn't really get overheated running it?

Or maybe there's a different problem..

    I'm running Vista business 64.

    Anyone have a solution?

    thanks,

    admiral

Well, regardless of the age of the game, the cpu still runs at 100%, producing the maximum frames per second it can.

Maybe it would help if you used an utility such as RMClock to underclock your cpu when playing?

Some older games have issues with the dual core processors. Try running it in compatibility mode.

don't expect much from counter strike 1.6. It is an old game that uses pixel drawing that x3100 runs rather slowly at. cs:s runs better compared to 1.6
I used to play 1.6 competitively and if you are the same, x61 is not the way to go. I get frame drop from 100fps to 40fps all the time and it's just frustrating when someone throws nades at you.

I'd recommend going for something with discrete graphics if you're going to be doing any kind of real gaming.

I'm sorry, but for a game like UT thats 8 years old that is total BS. On my laptop with a GMA950 and a single core 1,66GHz laptop i can play the game maxed at 1400x1050 at a smooth 60fps for hours on end.

In other words, its not the system specs. I'd put my money on overheating as I've heard thats a pretty common problem with x61's. I agree that using RMclock can make a difference of around 10 C which might fix your problem.
