Ok folks, need your collective wisdom. I am sitting here typing on my 17in Hp, that I have spent the conference leaving it in my room. So giving serious consideration to a IBM X61s with the following configuration... Need advice on config... if you think I should change it / why and is the price lenovo is offering good atm. Going to be used for email/web browsing/Thinkorswim Desktop software.

Additional Question: How loud is the X61s, high speed fans drive me nuts :)
    Here is the config

Poster above brings up legit point.
Have you ever had a 12" lappy b4? You have no desktop space in comparison to a 17".

I started with a 12" Avera(crap), loved the size but hated the quality.

Went over to the Dell side, started with a 15.4 and went back to the 12"
700m because I loved the weight and size. Became a semi-legend with my friends and their friends and helped many buy and did clean installs, virus removals, etc. so handled lots of Hps, Dells, Fujitsus, Toshibas.

Went back to Dell 15.4" Precision because of specific (Avid) hardware requirements.

Couldn't wait to go back to a 12", but wanted a video card, then Dell killed the xps1210.

Had to bite the video card requirement when the Thinkpads suddenly became ultra affordable. Using my new x61s from the outlet, price in sig, similar to yours.

I miss the crispness of the sxga+ screen, the depth of color.

I love the 8 hours of battery life, the not sore anymore shoulder.

    Hope the insights might help.

    edit
Don't really think your price is that hot, unless you have to pull the trigger I would wait.
Should be in the @$1400 range with the at home warranty, do you really need it?

Well, All the screens are tiny by comparison. I use a 47" monitor for my desktop. I use the dv9000t as a desktop replacement at work, and for playing games and such when traveling... But I do want a notebook that is easy to carry around, do stock trading, conferences etc on. So the size 12" is fine in combination with the long duration of the 8 cell battery..

No I dont need it for 90 to 120 days, so I can wait on a good price, or competing products.

I think a T series is more your style at 6 pounds or so with 15.4 inches it isn't really a burden. Although you could be like me and get both :) Yes I know I am an addict.
