Both X61s and 3000 V100 are 12.1 screens, but the X61s has no optical drive. If they could put an optical drive in V100, why not in X61s? The lack of optical drive is perhaps the only reason I don't want an X61s

Well, just found that V100 has disappeared from Lenovo site! Now there's only one V200! What happened?!

    The V200 replaced the V100.

The reason the X61s doesn't have an optical drive is because it keeps the weight and thickness down. An optical drive isn't that important for business users who are always traveling.

Thanks sp00n. So they are not making V100 any more? I've read some good reviews about it. I wonder how much difference is between the two. Also I see they don't offer windows XP here.

They still offer the V100 in Canada direct from Lenovo. You should also be able to purchase the V100 new from retailers very easily.

Although both notebooks have a similar size screen, the V100 and X61s are *very* different notebooks. They are marketed towards very different audiences. You should do some more research to make sure you are buying the right notebook for your needs.

    A few things to note:

    battery life:
    x60s - 8 hours +
    V100 - 3 hours +

    weight:
    x60s - ~3.5 lbs or less
    V100 - ~4.5 lbs

    Screen:
    x60s - 12" standard aspect ratio (4:3) 1024 x 768 resolution
    V100 - 12" widescreen (16:9) 1280 x 768 resolution

    Processors:
x60s - low voltage (cooler, less powerful, bettery battery life)
V100 - standard voltage (warmer, more powerful, less battery life)
