Is there a way to get Windows 7 on my X61t without the ultrabase?

sorry for the semi hi jack but had a quick question. Would I need to make recovery disks before doing a clean install of W7? or that is built in the machine correct?

@ Canadian Dude You could mount or extract the iso and install it from inside your current windows installation as an advanced installation as well.

@ alphakenny1 you should always burn the recovery disks just in case. As long as you don't delete the recovery partition you can get back to it, its just a bit tedious to do so.

So to make life simpler, just burn the recovery media before you go installing a new OS.

Any USB based optical drive will work fine. For example, this $50 Lite-ON 20X DVD+RW will work fine for both burning your Vista recovery media and installing Windows 7.
