It just now occurred to me that I didn't get the operating system disk with my recent Z60m purchase. I always got disks with systems that I have purchased in the past.
What's the deal? I can't find any info with the thnkVantage.

IBM (like most notebook makers these days) does not ship machines with recovery CDs anymore. You are expected to create them yourself if you want them. You will need 1 CD-R and one DVD+R or DVD-R (or 6 CD-Rs will work if you do not have a DVD burner). Go to Start > All Programs > Access IBM > Create Recovery Disks to start the process.
If you are still within 30 days of the invoice date, you can call IBM tech support and they may send the factory recovery CDs to you without charge if you ask for them. -
Burn off the drivers folder as well.

....are you guys talking about windows XP?
I have bought several desktop computers since my first purchase in 1988 and they always came with windows 3.1 or windows 95 or whatever.
I didn't get any windows xp home edition disks. -
Yes, we're talking about XP. Virtually no computer comes with the recovery CDs anymore.

I guess since XP is so much more stable than 3.0 through Windows ME, then there is less need to reformat.
XP disks?
