So I just recently noticed that when configuring a T400 (might be the case for others, I just looked at the T400) if you select Vista Business 64, a new window pops up with an XP Professional Recovery DVD option. Whereas if you select the Vista Business XP Downgrade, no such option appears.

Does anyone know how these two things are different? With the XP downgrade, do I not get an XP Profressional Recovery DVD?

Bump...I have the same question and am hoping someone here knows the answer.

What is the difference between the Vista XP Downgrade and Vista with the XP Pro Recovery CD? Does this apply to both Ultimate and Business?

    Thanks.

I shall reach out my noodley appendage and answer your question!

If you order Vista with XP downgrade, the laptop will ship with XP installed and a VISTA recovery cd. This is okay if you were planning on installing XP anyways. Remember that switchable graphics won't work on XP.

If you order Vista with the XP recovery disc, the laptop will ship with Vista preinstalled and a recovery cd containing an XP install.

This is all straight from my Lenovo rep.

Well my Lenovo rep :D said the Vista with XP downgrade means XP installed as you say but Vista on the hidden partition so you have to burn your own disk.

    Not sure who is correct.
