I just saw that Lenovo has a deal running for the Y40-80. $599 with

    5th Generation Intel Core i7-5500U Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
    8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L 1600 MHz
    Hybrid 500GB 5400 RPM+8GB SSHD

I plan to use the laptop for MS Office (Word, Excel), web surfing and streaming movies (Netflix, etc.)

Would this laptop perform well? For the specs above and the price, I'm having a hard time passing it up! Also, it doesn't look like this model was affected by Superfish.

Opinions are MUCH appreciated. Thanks all.

It is pretty much overkill for what you ask it to do.

But to answer your question based on its stats it will do great.

Superfish is gone anyway so no worries, Should you get older stock that has it Lenovo has a removal tool on their website.

For $599, you can't beat it, right? I just want it to run fast. I think their professional line is way overkill, but I just want to make sure gaming laptop can perform excel and office tasks with ease.

    Thanks for the response.

I think that is a good price for what it is.

    It will do great.

Some will ***** about Lenovo quality but they are overall well regarded.

I've also been looking at the Dell Inspiron line, but with these specs the dells will be more pricey. If lenovo lets me use the $100 off on top of coupon for signing up for email I'm going for it for sure.

Unless there are other lenovo laptops out there in the same price range with similar specs.
