Hey all, I've had my Y400 for about a month and a half now, I love the thing. Exceeds my expectations. The other day, I set it down to go do something, and I must've tripped or stepped on my mouse cable that was plugged into the USB 3.0 port on the left hand side, because that casing around the port is bent and mangled, and the port itself is bent up, towards the screen. It still works, but I don't know for how much longer.
My question is, how difficult would it be to DIY replace it? How much is a new port, and is it worth the time and effort to replace it? I watched a disassembly video, and it looks like a pain in the neck for one measly port. Would this be covered under my "Standard 1 year warranty"? And if so, how long of a wait am I looking at for it to be replaced and returned?

Honestly, just give them a call, and use a complaining tone (so you control them hehe), and the replacement time can be anywhere from 4 days to 4 weeks.

Lenovo Services
Note the "normal operating condition" caveat.
Still, you can call service, but I don't think that, even a "complaining tone" would help. Once you send it in, the tech who receives it, makes the call. They will tell you what's damaged, and how much it will be to repair. If you don't want to pay the charge, they'll ship it back in the same condition you sent it in.
Sorry to be such a killjoy.
The port is directly attached to the MB. What the hey, be thankful it still works! -
