I've had my Y410 for almost 6 months now and I love everything about it.....except for its paint job. The palmrest and especially the touchpad are have friction spots where the paint has been buffed to a shine, and the black paint bordering the keyboard yields to a fingernail.

I'm sure some of you have experienced this sort of ugliness, and if someone has found a solution (maybe some clear contact paper.....or a laminating sheet....or whatever) I'd like to hear about it.

How I wish my Lenovo laptop were built with that tough black plastic IBM used for my PII 440Mhz laptop.

Did you use rubbing alcohol or any kind of cleaning agent to clean the palm rest? Cause you can't use them, the paint doesn't really have a clear coat, you should only use water. Almost all laptops' palm rest will get shinny spots after a while, which bothers me a lot also.

I got these on eBay, custom fit, not expensive, just give the seller the sizes you want when you buy them:
