I purchased this laptop in May 2014, and installed the second graphics card in August. This past month or so I have had many graphical issues in some games, but not in others.

Planetside 2 has many artifacts (pink/yellow/lime triangles of varying shapes and sizes on the screen, especially when looking at the map screen), CS GO will hang for 10 seconds on a black screen every 30 minutes or so before returning to the normal game, and League of Legends will outright crash at seemingly random times. Warframe is by far the worst affected game- I could barely play 5 minutes without a crash- I messed around with all the settings, and turning off PhysX made the crashing go away- but now the game just hangs on a black screen for 10 seconds instead. Warthunder will also crash on occasion, but all my other games are fine ( modded Skyrim, KSP, Witcher 2, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 3, etc...)

Always after a game hangs or crashes, the screen brightness is set to 100% regardless of where it was before... its weird.

Most error codes are DirectX related device_blah_blah_blah errors - I can paste them if that helps.

I can't think of any obvious reasons why the issues occur when they due ( i.e. there's no massive explosions on the screen, etc... )

I always try to keep temperatures under 80C, and use MSI Afterburner's on screen display to monitor temps - if either card gets to 80 I will tab out of the game and let them drop down, before resuming playing, so I don't think the issues are due to high temperatures/stress on the cards. The laptop is always on a cooling pad when gaming.

In terms of overclocking, etc... I have done nothing to the graphics cards, and have undervolted my CPU by 30 mV using Intel's XTU software, while keeping the same clock speed.

Other item that may be of possible note- I play without the battery installed when gaming, usually, so I can theoretically preserve my battery's lifespan... would this cause problems?

Has anyone else experienced similar issues, either on a Y510P SLI setup or a Y410P one? Any solutions? Please help me! Thanks

All Y410p and Y510p purchased with just a single discrete GPU comes with a 120 watt power supply unit. Models with dual GPU (SLI) comes with a 170 watt PSU. Check your PSU. You need the 170 watt PSU.. Update your Nvidia drivers to the latest ones. Optimize SLi profiles if they are available for your chosen games. Lastly check all your game websites for patches/updates. I hope this helps.

The PlanetSide 2 psychedelic artifacts are due to Nvidia drivers.

I have the 170w PSU - but maybe it could be faulty or something, I don't know if there is a way to check that (does a multimeter read that sort of thing)...? Nvidia drivers are at 344.75, latest is 347.09 and I'm upgrading right now (I wasn't able to do this previously because I got the flu). I will check for stability in the next few days. I either keep SLI profiles at Nvidia recommended, or at AFR 2 mode if the game refuses to use both GPU's and I need some more FPS. I think all of my games update automatically, and I will check on that soon as well. Thanks for the tips.

Good to know, that was by far the worst affected game and it is immensely relieving to know that it is not "my" problem.
