That is, this problem is solved changing the thermal paste?

And how to check got a successful model or not? When buying.

Thank you very much. A touchpad is so bad? Or you can configure it somehow?
And if there are problems with the Wi-Fi if you put a normal driver? Or is it a hardware problem? -
and of the two y410p models i'm looking at, i notice the difference between the two is the no ssd vs 24gb ssd, 2230 vs 7260, and 72 watt vs 62 watt battery
I know having the SSD is a good thing.
I've read through the whole thread and saw that you mentioned the 2230 has faulty drivers, does the 7260 also have this problem? and is the 7260 a big improvement over the 2230?
and lastly, doesn't the better model ($830) have worse battery life since its battery is smaller?
edit: i did some research and found out that the successor of the y410p will be the y40 and not the y420p. would you say the y40 is worth waiting to get over the y410p?

hey jobine,
so i was one of the people who bought y410p during black friday/early dec 2013 (i bought model# 59399853) & i hadnt unboxed it & started it up til today due to being so busy with school...i'm a college student in his 3 last semesters so everything else tend to be put on the backburner...
i decided to start it up today after i heard about microsoft forcing us to get the 8.1.1 update before may 13th..
when i boot it up for the 1st time today, i got the black screen with grey lines flickering in the middle, no lenovo logo, no message, nothing...
do i have to call lenovo support & get it fixed or exchange it for another one? -
Hi, could anyone help me figure out why my y410p is getting really hot I got it new yesterday. I was playing BF3 both my CPU and GPU temps would go to 90C and up I disabled turbo already

The review says that there is a hidden SIM card slot. Where is it found and can it be used?
-
Thanks for the review
I have purchased a 410p after reading your review, however the back-lit function won't turn on, I've tried the Fn+space but it still won't turn on.
I am wondering if I bought a model without the back-lit keyboard or the back-lit function on my keyboard was broken upon arriving. Is the any way to know for sure? -

Hey guys,
I used to have a Y410p laptop and ended up selling it since Lenovo didn't release the ultrabay gpu outside of Asian countries. Well the guys I work with at my office are comparing pcmark7 scores on their machines and I was wondering if someone with a gt750m or gt755m with an i7 4700 and a 24gb ssd y410p could upload their pcmark7 scores. Thanks -
I am thinking about getting this laptop soon. Do you think I should?? I am gonna use for school use and for gaming too. So far, the only actual problem is the WiFi card. Yes, I have heard about its problems EVERYWHERE. And if you say I should uninstall the Intel PROSet Driver, do I just uninstall it like every other software in Add or Remove Programs? Or do I have to do other stuff? And the other problem everyone says I will have is the touchpad. Is it THAT BAD?? Because in school I might not have to use the mouse. Also, the battery life is my problem too. How is it gonna last? My brother says that I should enable Extended Battery Life mode and decrease the brightness so it can last around 5 hours HOPEFULLY. But I will still bring the laptop charger along on the first day of school. Thanks! I REALLY NEED HELP BEFORE AROUND 2 DAYS!!
Note: I am kinda new on computer stuff so please don't reply with all those COMPLICATED stuff. Yes, I can understand like the processor details, GPU details, RAM details, Screen details but PLEASE don't take it TOO FAR!! THANKS AGAIN! -
I don't have one, but as far as battery life, set the power plan to power saving and go to the advanced options for that plan, scroll to cpu power management, change max cpu to like 75% if it isn't already there or lower. That would help a lot.

You could always look at the Lenovo Y50/Y40 instead, MSI GE series or ASUS N series. -
Check out all of the other laptops already. This is the best choice out there. And, it's below budget. My country is very SMALL. Everything is all the same. I found the same MSI laptop in 3 malls in my town. This laptop is RARE in my opinion. I looked it out again a while ago and still this is the best choice. I am very sure I should get this laptop.
Now, all I need to know is how to make it:
- Not how TOO MUCH problems with it's WiFi connection
- Let it last long (It battery wise and itself)
-Extra accessories I need for better use and to make this laptop better too
PLEASE HELP! And if you really think that this laptop is not worth it. Recommend me a Famous Laptop that is under....around 980USD. And not in the Internet cause my real budget is 920USD. I can bargain in the mallsTHANKS
-
BTW the MSI laptop I was talking about is GP60 2PE Leopard. And ASUS N series is WAY over my budget. HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME!! THANKS

Jobine, fantastic thread. Thanks for all the info. My son has an early 750m y410p and loves it, so far so good with Skyrim, Minecraft, etc. etc.
Along with your helpful tips, I'm particularly intrigued by the potential availability of the elusive 750m SLI / ultrabay hardware in Asia. My family and I are living in China until June 2015. I've searched around a bit on TaoBao and Alibaba, but I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. Can you offer some part numbers or links to the parts? Also, bang for buck, am I better off just dumping 16GB of RAM into this thing or searching high and low for the SLI ultrabay? I know RAM isn't graphics, but it doesn't hurt.
My son's not a super hardcore gamer, but I'd like to keep this thing functional for 2-3 more years to get him most of the way through high school. I also use it for 1080/2k GoPro editing (with mixed results, though I think it's a little operator error thus far). Thoughts?
Does the SLI gear run full time as long as it's in the bay, or is there an "off switch" without pulling the unit? Any other considerations? My son does almost all his gaming on AC adapter. You think he'll need to upgrade from the 90w adapter if we can find the SLI?
Thanks again! -
Wasn't happy when I got mine. Track pad doesn't work well and the harddrive seems to be slowing down the computer significantly. Never even close to maxing out CPU or RAM.
