Hi, everyone.
I am interested in a y410p but worry about its Canadian bilingual keyboard, which, according to some posts, is quite different than the standard English counterpart. Could someone upload a picture so I can have a look at its layout. Thanks a lot.![]()

It should look like any other Lenovo Canadian bilingual keyboard, Lenovo has been using same keyboard on their IdeaPad series since the Y470/Y570 and one of the biggest reasons why I got my Y570 in the first place.

Lenovo's Canadian bilingual keyboard is not nearly as bad a some of the other laptop manufactures bilingual keyboard (Acer, Asus), it's just if you're use to using a non bilingual keyboard on your desktop or other devices it will be a bit awkward however on the plus side the enter key is nice and big. -
I am not good at typing, and this bilingual keyboard would slow me down even further. Guess I have to pick another laptop. -
I have the Canadian Bilingual one, will upload picture in a sec
Yeah, i second what was said above, you can remap it as an US english one, the only difference is a slightly smaller shift key due to that one extra button. -

It seems like the backlash key relocates to the left hand side of the keyboard, just beside the left shift key, and this change may cost me a life time to get used to. Guess I should avoid any computer that come with a bilingual keyboard in the future... -
Keytweak, probably the most awesome keyboard remapper in the history of the world. -

I remapped my left-click key (the one next to Right Ctrl) as a mute button -
If the Y410p is really the laptop that you want, either you can get for good price or there are features on the Y410p not found on any other laptop on the market for the price then I'd say go ahead and buy it then replace the bilingual keyboard with a US one bought off eBay.
That's exactly what I did with my Y570 in which a genuine US keyboard only cost me $20 off eBay, seeing that Y410p has backlit keyboard and uses the exact same keyboard as the Y400 series, it'll cost you about $40 to replace the bilingual keyboard with a genuine US one bought of eBay and off course you can always put up your original Canadian bilingual up for sale at half that price to get some money back.
The thing is that you won't be able to find other laptops in Canada without a bilingual keyboard attached they are very rare, if you're planning on buying a laptop from the US then there are chances the warranty will not be covered for such a purchase and the price of the laptop might end up costing more due to import fees plus sometimes US models differ from Canadian models eg. Acer 772G has 750M in US and 760M in Canada. -

Business laptops like ThinPad's and Dell's Vostro's are rare exceptions however consumer based laptops hardly come with a US English keyboard in Canada.
I only know because these little things matter a lot to me and I'm constantly looking to buy new laptops, netbooks and tablet convertibles in Canada because I live in Toronto eh...LOL -

We've already talked about cross border shipping, if cross border shipping costs more than replacing the laptop's keyboard (which can be done fairly easy without voiding warranty) and does NOT come with an international warranty coverage policy (chances are it will not with the exception of ASUS) then like I've mentioned before buy the laptop in Canada and swap out the keyboard (if don't want to do it yourself kindly ask a computer knowledgeable friend to do it for you).
