Thanks dude! This thread is very helpful.

What is your primary function in plugging your phone to the laptop? To charge it? To put music/photos on it? To root it?
If it is a driver issue, the easiest way to obtain drivers for the s3 is to google "Samsung Kies", which is their official PC software for transferring and backups. It comes automatically with installing proper drivers for your phone. You don't have to use the software, and the drivers will be installed no matter what.
If you want just the drivers and not the software, then that's a little more complicated because you will have to search for S3-specific drivers. -
Have you tried using a different cable? I had a similar problem, along with dreadfully slow transfer speed due to a broken cable. Those micro usb connectors seem to be pretty fragile... already gone through a couple myself.
-
I would agree with HomeLite, try another cable, some of those aftermarket cables don't work with my GNex.

Uh, AGoff dude (or anyone who owns a y410p), I have a big favour to ask.
I tried to disassemble mine, but I'm deathly afraid of screwing something up.
I've done this plenty of times to do things like replace ram, service hard drive, and all that to various other laptops. But this thing feels VERY stiff.
I got to the point in your guide where:
I did check that I got all the screws out, and it still feels kinda pried in there.
So, my big request is...can you upload a video of you taking apart the bottom piece out? My SSD is just screaming to get in there, but I do not want to risk damaging anything.
You don't have to use Youtube. Just puush a video is fine.
Thank you SO much in advance. -
I broke a peg doing that. So did many other Y series owners. BE CAREFUL, that's all i gotta say. If you wanna do it the safe way, caddy your SSD.

Are the SATA connection from the CD drive and hard drive dequivalent? Some people here have suggested that one should put the SSD in the HDD slot and the HDD should go in the caddy. -
They are equivalent. The reason why people recommend that is becuase your bulk data will be stored to the HDD, which wont mind being removed every once in a while, whereas the OS will be stored on the SSD, which should be internalized for practical reasons. Also, you can't boot off the Ultrabay without a 3rd party booting utility.
-
Jobine, do you know what 3rd party utility makes this work? Was going to have an SSD in the ultrabay booting a version of Linux.
-
EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies (scroll down for the free edition).
Basically, you install it, and it will allow windows bootloader to chainload GRUB that is found on the ultrabay SSD. -
Right on, thanks!
Just bought the Y410P with the 900 screen, 24GB SSD HD, and N-7260 card. Have you heard of any issues with the N-7260? I'm going through this site and haven't found any real negative comments yet. And is there much of a difference in the two besides the ability to pick up 5Ghz compared to the 2230? -
Well the thing about the N7260 card is that it's actually just an AC card with some gimped drivers or firmware or something. Apparently when you locate it in Linux it has full capability.
Anyways the main issue with the N2230 was drivers, it in fact was not THAT bad. You should be able to see faster speeds with the N7260 although if your router doesn't have AC capability it'll be limited all the same
On another note, I don't know why but apparently this video surfaced recently - The mystical reassembly video of y400's lol

The new models have improved (6 hour) battery life. Best of luck with your purchase.

Look at the date. That video's been out for over a year. It's the most popular disassembly video out there and has been linked to on this forum countless times.
-
It's an assembly video, not disassembly.
-
So? It's just part 2 of the video.
-
I've seen the disassembly video linked many times. I only posted the assembly video because I've never seen it been linked to before. Saw the video a few days ago, and at that point it had no views so even though it might have been uploaded a year ago it only surfaced recently.
On another note I really wish the disassembly video included how to safely remove the bottom without breaking the clips. Is the best method to just to shimmy a plastic wedge under the laptop casing and just work it around the whole laptop? -
will this M2 NGFF SSD fit in the y410p ?

Yes.

I'm also having problems with opening the compartment cover.... Has anyone found an easy way to open it without breaking pegs? My ultrabay is also stuck when it is 3/4 out already too......
-
Make sure you are pulling down the central release hatch (at the middle of the bottom of the laptop) when taking out the ultrabay.
-
Just picked up this machine, been using it for about a month. Pretty nice little laptop, it has decent performance. I hate the vertical enter key, I know its a personal preference thing but still... >.<
Does anyone know if the rumor that lenovo scrapped making ultrabay modules for this thing is true?
Also, as far as hard drive caddies, has anybody found an aftermakret caddy to replace the optical drive that looks good/fits in the slot well? I tried a couple from amazon, but both were very sloppy fits. -
Just buy this:

And then use this to get it to SLI with the 750/755M:

Arcman, do you have a GT750M or GT755M?
