Hi all, I'm looking to possibly purchase this laptop for university and had a few questions.

    Specs:
    # Intel® Core™ Duo T4200 ( 2.00GHz 800MHz 1MB )
    # Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
    # Intel Integrated Graphics X4500
    # 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
    # 14.0 " HD Wide LED 1366x768
    # 250GB 5400
    # DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
    # Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 5100
    # One year parts and labour (system battery: one year)
    # Industry Standard Touchpad
    # 6 Cell Lithium-Ion
    $615.12 CDN

    1. Would this be able to play 720p and 1080p flawlessly both on the laptop itself and on a TV through HDMI out? This will probably be the most intensive thing I will be doing as I don't play games.
    2. Is the reported heat problem really that bad? I know I read about a user here who returned it because of that.
    3. Will the processor became obsolete too quickly compared to the higher end model which has a T6500?
    4. Does Lenovo do the W7 upgrade?
    5. I'm used to "Ctrl Fn" on my keyboards. Will I be able to adjust to the "Fn Ctrl" Lenovo layout? I was almost turned off the laptop completely because of this.

    Thanks in advance! :)

Is it the X4500 or the X4500MHD that you have? If it's the latter it should be able to play 1080p.

I'm not too sure. I just copied and pasted exactly what was on the "config" page. If it is indeed the X4500 that's listed, would that mean 1080p is a pipedream?

The following was taken from Wiki:

The difference between the GMA X4500 and the GMA X4500HD is that the GMA X4500HD is capable of "full 1080p high-definition video playback, including Blu-ray disc movies",[12] the GMA X4500 however does not have that capability.

I know Wiki is not the best source for tech stuff but I think what they said is true in this case. I haven't yet had personal experience with either one of these chips, so hopefully someone else can chip in.

    BTW, welcome to NBR!

Thanks for the advice and the welcome!

My other option is the Asus U80V-A1 but that's like almost double the price.
