    Hey guys,
I have been looking at Y570 and for sometime now and really want to buy the i7 version with the Nvidia GT 550M.

There is this laptop in Lenovo Outlet which is refurbished. I just want to know if it would be a good idea to purchase the refurbished laptop.

I dont know much about refurb and all and I`m just skeptical.
I`ll be thankful for your comments.

The refurb laptop are laptop that people return to lenovo. Part of the refurbish laptop are from unit with defects, units are return to Lenovo because customer changes their mind or simply find the model does not suit their needs. Lenovo then refurbished them to like new condition. They might have some cosmetic issue, but the inner hardware are function if you recieve a new unit. You also cannot get a normal warranty on the laptop

From my experience, I would buy a laptop from Lenovo's outlet. As long as you don't mind that the laptop is perviously owned by another person and you don't know what kind of unnatural deed the previous owner did the laptop. The laptop may come with some scratches and you have to buy a more expensive warranty extension if you choose to get a warranty extension.

I brought a Ideapad S10-2 from the outlet, it have serve me well from the duration of time I had the unit.

I had a brief problem a few days ago. I received an email saying that the shipping/billing address I gave lenovo was not registered with my card company. So I called customer service, got a woman who sounded like she was in asia, but turned out to be very helpful and easy to work with. She called my bank and verified everything and processed my order. the next day the packaged shipped and everything is in order so far. Should arrive next week. Less than a week since putting in my order, pretty good considering ordering a book off of amazon can take weeks. But well see how it fairs in the end.

Last night (not even 1 week after I ordered from the outlet) the laptop arrived on schedule. I opened it up. It was all packed up in plastic as if it was new. Everything works like a charm so far. I cannot tell what was refurbished on the computer- seems brand new.

One thing, which I already knew from previous posts: Theres a lot of junk pre-installed on these laptops. thats sort of aggravating, but not a huge deal. the optimus swith works fine (havnt played any games on it yet though). Startup time (after running the lenovo startup optimization) was about 30 seconds. Not to bad.

i am pleased with the screen. Since its 14", the resolution seems totally acceptable. The keyboard is very "thinkpad"-esque, which is nice. The keys are soft and quiet. The textured trackpad is a little strange at first and the clicker under it is in an odd position for my thumb, but probably just need to get used to it.

So, in all. Seems like I bought a brand new computer for 200 dollars cheaper than I would have if I had bought it new.

    Also- Specs are y470- i5 (2.3), 4gb ram, 550m. blueray.

So, been using the y40 for a few days now. Everything working great so far. Playing skyrim now- high setting - plus upping viewing distance on some stuff (with the 4G mod). I dont know the exact FPS, but it runs well enough for me to play. I am not one to tolerate much lagging in my game either.

While playing skyrim, the fan gets pretty loud- espesually when there is little sound coming from the game (by the way, the speakers are really nice on this computer)- but no overheating problems. Also- just to make give it a bit more air flow I put a pencil under the laptop along the back to lift it up a bit. I do this just as a precaution against overheating. Seems to work well.

The hinges on the laptop are a bit flimsy. And also the dvd drive is fairly flimsy. I think as long as I am careful with it though it should hold up.

Startup time is usually about 40-50 seconds.

Overall- a positive review for the lenovo outlet.
