    Hi, all,
I got my Y470 (i7-267QM, 8G RAM, Nvidia 1G video) 2 days ago. I noticed one thing, once the machine is turned on, the fan keeps running. No matter how many programs you are running, for example, if I only open one "chrome" window and browse internet, the fan will run. It is annoying because it generate a sound like "the sea tide up and down" . at this moment, my CPU usage is 0% and physical Memory usage is 22%. My old Dell Inspiron6400 makes noise too, but it is constant at the same level. Can anyone give some suggestions?

    Regards,
    Tao

What thermal setting is your laptop on? I saw that the y470 and y570 have different modes you can set and the fan will react differently depending on the mode. What temperature is the CPU/Motherboard when the fan revs up and down? You may want to post on Lenovo forums to if they can update their BIOS to get rid of this problem. (Assuming you're not the only one experiencing this.)

press the "crescent moon" soft touch above the keyboard and make sure it's on normal or quiet..the "efficient thermal dissapation" option makes the fan run often...or could try the dedusting option and see if that helps

    hi,
I don't know how to check my "thermal setting" on my Y470. if you are talking about using laptop fan cooler , the answer is no. my laptop sits on my desk.
about the CPU/mother board temperature, I can not find a way to check it. if you know one, please let me know. but I download a gadget which tells my GPU temperature is 39 or 40C when I open one "chrome" window.
actually I posted on lenovo forum, the lenovo staff asked me to update my BIOS. but it turns out that my bios is latest since I only got it 2 days ago.

    thanks,

    Hi,
I press the "cresent moon" key which is F1, with "Fn" key at the same time, this action sets my computer into "sleep", I have to bring the system back by pressing power button.
by the way, where to set "efficient thermal dissapation" option?

    thanks,

I looked up on Lenovo website, I think the energy manage software does the thermal manage , isn't it? then I checked on my laptop, it turnes out I have the latest 6.0.2.0 version. but I can not come into "thermal management window".
