Returning my Y470 brought 2 weeks ago after discovering it has a problem.
The usb 3.0 connections drop at random even during activity. The 2.0 and esata still works fine but nothing will work on the 3.0. I have to reboot the computer to get them working again. After typing in yahoo "usb 3.0 issue",
I discovered there were many issues with usb 3.0 connections (dell has 38 pages as of this writing with the exact problem). Thought I might just need to update the 3.0 driver (Renesas Electronics usb 3.0 host controller, driver ver 2.0.30.0 ), but the dell has an even newer driver with no change. They mention that you can disable, then enable the controller to restore it to proper function, but I shouldn't have to do that. What if I'm transferring data and it turns off and corrupts everything? I was using it with a mobile internet device, in the middle of watching a youtube video, the light on the modem goes off, internet gone!
plugged it into the 2.0....worked fine. Plugged it back into the 3.0....nothing.
Plugged in my flash drive....nothing. Into the 2.0, worked fine.
I will buy this laptop again after these 3.0 issues are fixed but the dell issue started back in November of 2010 and I have a June 2011 build and it's still having this problem!

Weird... The other day I transferred over 12GB of data through the USB 3.0 from my external HDD to my internal HDD with no hiccups at all...

I have the same driver as well
