Which model do you guys recommend?

Both have good middle range gaming card but I don't know the cooling capabilities of both.

Which will be able to run games without overheating/throttling issues?

    Thanks

The y470 seems to run a little cooler than the y460p. The older y460 had no overheating issues(Bottom was very hot.), but there is little information on the newer y460p. Someone did mention that the build quality of their y460p was just plain awful compared to the solid y470.

Overall, the y470 seems to be a better buy.

Y460p doesn't have switchable graphics. That's a serious blow for portability. Y470 does have Optimus with a decent GT550M.
