I ordered a refurb Y50 that supposedly had a 1080 IPS display. Got the laptop today after two cancelled orders etc... but when I go into the control panel, the resolution says it's 3840 x 2160. Does this mean I ended up w/ a 3k display? To confuse me even more, when I go to checkmyscreenresolution.com, it tells me my resolution is 1536 x 864? Is there a way I can tell which screen I ended up with? Thanks.

Control Panel should be the most accurate. That resolution is 4k if its correct, I wouldn't trust a website to check it for you, whatever control panel says your screen resolution is should be accurate. Also... 4k looks ridiculously better than 1080p, you should be able to tell the difference just by looking at the screen. It should look incredibly sharp and crisp compared to 1080p. That website is also awful... It said mine is 2400x1500p when its 1080p. I've never even heard of that resolution.

Thanks Galm. I thought the screen looked pretty good until I pulled my Flickr account and looked at some of my pictures. It's AWEFUL! The soft hues of pinks and reds in the sky are totally blown out! In the pic below, on this Y50 sreen the sky has yellow blobs!

I know that on the stock 4k screen, the yellows look horrible, like dijon mustard instead of simpsons yellow
