Hi Guys,
First of all, my apologies if this post belongs elsewhere - kindly move it as applicable
Now onto the main topic of discussion:
So, perhaps like most people viewing this, I am also in the dilemma between waiting for Y50 or going with an existing model (Y510 SLI ofcourse)
However, there are a few aspects about my situation which I wanted to bring up:
1) I will be upgrading from a G73JH-A2 (5870m) which sadly died and won't even turn on anymore (HDD light comes on then goes off - Screen remains black on boot). I LOVED this laptop despite its severe weight, heat, touchpad (horrific!) and a few other cons
The G73 became mighty hot since a few weeks before it died (100+ at times acc. to HWInfo32) so my suspicion was that the GPU is toasted but even replacing that hasn't helped.
However, thanks to the G73 I have gathered a tolerance for heat (as long as its bearable!) and that by itself is really tempting me to purchase the Y510p 755m SLI
Since I will be purchasing from Thailand (or UK as I will be traveling there next month) I am wondering if there is actually any point in waiting for the Y50. It still hasn't been released in the USA which inevitably means it'll get released even later in the countries where I can purchase it. And while I can wait until say end of June (although I will be without a laptop till then), will it be released by then in these regions?
2) Is the SLI version going to be hotter in daily use than the G73 that I became used to or will it be more manageable? If it doesn't end up burning my skin then I think I can probably handle it - but I'd like to hear from those with experience of using it regularly
3) My budget is approximately 1200-1300 USD so I'm not even sure I will find a relevant Y50 in that budget (especially since outside Thailand, I can only buy it from UK/India where it'll be even more expensive I imagine)
Again, I am happy to wait for the Y50 (infact that's what I've been doing so far) but it just feels like this is an endless wait and I will end up being without a laptop literally for months if I keep waiting (even then I'd wait if its actually worth it - seems like nobody knows the answer to this yet)
p.s. I'd like to add that I am open to other suggestions as well if you have any - please keep in mind that I can only purchase in Thailand, India or UK - and a lot of models either haven't been released in these regions or make zero pricing sense

If you want raw horsepower, the Y510p 755M sli is more powerful than the Y50's single 860M. The Y510P is also cheaper, but it is thicker and heavier. If you don't mind thickness and heaviness (which seems to be the case since you loved your G73), I would go with the Y510P

Not all games support SLI and it comes with issues of its own (micro stutter, which to me is extremely distracting) I would always get a single more powerful GPU than 2 weak ones in SLI.
The 755M SLI is not really much better than a single 860M anyway. -
GTX 860M vs GTX 770M vs GT 755 SLI: Same power, same price, way lower power consumption
Also, with the y510p SLI, the laptop won't default to the intel graphics; it'll use one of the cards. So that's going to kill your battery life, even more than normal. -
In terms of price / performance ratio, you can't beat a Y510p GT755 SLI. In terms of performance / efficiency the GTX860 wins.
