It has been a good few years since the last time I have been on this site, I remember you guys being extremely helpful in the Dell forums, hopefully that extends to the Lenovo section.

    I recently picked up a Y50 UHD for $800. Intel Core i7 4710HQ, 16GB RAM, GTX 860 4gb (Maxwell), 1Tb HDD, 380x2160 screen.

Now I am getting absolutely terrible performance on the Windows desktop. Stuttering and freezing galore. Animations are laggy and clicking the start menu takes a good 5 seconds to open. Even typing this is laggy.

I am currently using Windows 10, but 8.1 had the same issues. I have reformatted twice. Gaming performance is flawless, it is just the desktop.

The Task manager is showing nothing unusual. CPU is below 8% on all cores, only 4/16GB of RAM used, the HDD activity doesn't seem to be spiking. Benchmarks appear to be normal.

I am in high performance mode, and I have tried using quiet HDD to see if the HDD idling was causing the issues. I have tried forcing the 860M.

I am absolutely loving the laptop outside of this, so I really need to figure out the problem here.
