My charger recently died on me. I would have to hold it in a certain position for it to charge and now it won't charge at all so I assume something went wrong with the wires. I looked at some chargers online for a 170w ac adapter (I have the SLI version) and I saw lenovo was selling theirs for $80 which seems a bit expensive for me. Is there a cheaper charger that will be able to charge my Y500 SLI and not effect performance too much? Links to where to buy it would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, that's pretty reasonable for a 170W adapter. You might be able to find a cheap knockoff somewhere, just make sure the output voltage and amperage matches (should multiply them to get 170W -- eg. 19V, 9A).

Thanks for replying. I called Lenovo and they are going to send me a new one. Didn't know AC Adapters were covered by warranty.
