Hey. Thinking about getting a 16GB Y500 and I want to have the dual band N 2.4/5Ghz wireless vs. the old-school single band wireless N.
The Thinkpads come with the option to order the Ultimate N 6300 wireless chip.
Does anyone know if that Intel Ultimate N 6300 will fit in a Y500 or another comparable dual band wireless n chip to replace the default one?

    Thanks

It will fit but I don't think it's in the default bios's whitelist (at least it wasn't in previous models such as y580) so you won't be able to use unless you modify bios (which terminates your warranty).

Wow, I never even thought of that.
Just assumed any hardware added would be OK, kind of like a desktop motherboard, adding components to a PCI slot.
