Hi there, I just got my Y500 from America. It's fast and cool looking laptop but I have noticed some problems, the touch-pad works fine though. When I start gaming the fans get very loud, this is an very annoying issue that I tried to solve but failed at. If you unplug the laptop and start gaming with the battery the GPU stays clocked at 135/200, therefor I can't play games fluently with the charger unplugged. Does anyone has the solutions?

Open machine, clean current thermal solution, repaste, reseat heatsinks, use a cooling pad, use HwInfo to log performance during a gaming session, post here.

Is that the only solution? And what cooling pad do you recommend me?

You cannot game on battery with dual 650's (or 750's) AFAIK.

The dual GPU y500 is known to run hot and loud (depending on your scale of what those are).

How about gaming on a single card? I always disable SLI when going on battery.

Thats not a issue its just programmed like that. Every laptop has the same thing, you cant game on batterys.

Fan gets very loud because its gets warm/hot. And heat needs to be removed, so the solution is cooling.

    Sent from my awesome 1080p Z n sh!t

Well then, I can live with that. Do you know how to flash the bios? I'm planning to overclock the GPU.
