Had my y510 for about a year now and these problems I'm having with it seem to be happening more often than ever.

Sometimes my sound will just stop working. The buttons on the keyboard don't raise or lower the volume, and if I click the speaker on the bar at the bottom of the screen, it'll say that Windows Explorer has stopped working and make me restart it. Sometimes opening Winamp or a program like that will make the sound work, though, and the Volume display will appear.

Also, my screen will sometimes be stretched horizontally. It usually sets itself back to where it should be a few seconds after it gets stretched (which is usually after it's in "sleep mode") but it's been stretched for about 3 days now and nothing seems to make it go back to normal.

    Any help is much appreciated.

I have noticed that with my Y510 that when the speakers are not used for an extended time they will go into a sort of "sleep" mode and once a sound goes off (such as a new instant message) the speakers will make the 'pop' sound associated with speakers turning on and only the second half of the sound can be heard. I don't know what's controlling this but I assume it has somthing to do with power management.

That being said, if my assumption is right then maybe the power management software is screwing up or something in your BIOS. If I were you and I wasn't able to find an answer online here or at the Lenovo Community forums I would just reformat and reinstall the drivers fresh. But I would strongly recommend searching through the Lenovo Community Forums or posting your problems there because I have found a lot of answers concerning problems w/ my Y510 there.
