Hi, I'm planning to get the Y510p (59370005 for 1030 dollars) this Monday but I have some questions:
    Does the Y510p support Optimus?
Is the OS installed on the SSD or is it used for caching?
Will your warranty still be valid in Europa?
Where can you buy the Ultra-bay card for a second GPU and will it be available in Europa?
Are there better laptops for the price?
Will the Y510p 59370005 be available on Newegg?

I hope that some of you can answer the questions :)

I've checked the international warranty for the Y510p as well. Currently there is no international warranty for the Y510p but as far as I can tell it seems like Lenovo's international warranty is generally only available for the countries where the specific model is being sold. i.e. when that model is sold in your country you can have warranty in your country, regardless of where you initially bought it. For example, the Y500 has international warranty in the Netherlands (even if it's bought in the U.S.), the Y500 is also being sold in the Netherlands. The Y510p is not being sold in the Netherlands and it's also not on the list for international warranty anywhere outside the U.S. Can anyone confirm this is indeed true?

Not sure about the warranty situation on Ideapads, though I can say that it won't have Optimus (otherwise Lenovo would have advertised such). You should be able to read the full text of the warranty on Lenovo's local website (or the website for the nation you're buying from), though must off the top of my head I think that it won't have international warranty support (call to make sure).

If your going to buy the Y510p with a single card, then yes there definitely is better out there. The one laptop that is good for comparing to the Y510p, it is the MSI GE60. The GE60 has optimus and a single GTX765m which is a hairline short of the GT750m SLI. Also it is confirmed that the SSD is only used for caching and not for the OS. I doubt any single GT750m models will make it to other retailers besides Lenovo. The same thing happened with the Y500, only the SLI models were sold outside of Lenovo.

But the Y510p with Barnes and Gold costs 970 dollar and the GE60 costs about 1200 dollars ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152406)

Without the physical hardware to support it, I fail to see how you can "install" Optimus onto a laptop that doesn't support it.

^ By support, i mean advertised on the site. By manual, i mean installing the latest GPU driver from Nvidia, so far , yx10p owners have reported optimus to work, but its not advertised on the site.

I've talked to two Lenovo reps online and they both told me that the y500 ( and y510p I assume) can use the igp on the battery to save power. They could be full of it, but that's what they told me.

I am very certain that the Y500 cannot use Optimus. You could ask the owners yourself.

Thanks for the feedbacks, still got the Lenovo 650m SLI. Since the estimated ship date wat too long for the y500/y510p with the 750m. I still think I got a pretty good deal for the price, 989 dollars for a i7, 650m sli, 1TB + caching SDD.

do you void the warranty if you move the os to the ssd?

just got the y510p the other day, havent tried installing optimus yet.

It does switch to the igpu when on battery.

No, an OS re-install won't void your warranty.
