This is not a thread about the shipping and delivery of my laptop but in total from order to received at my home took 35 days.

I also won't be able to talk about the technical aspects or do any benchmarks (because I don't really feel like) but i can tell you about some games that i'm willing to play. And if you're looking for information about the laptop itself such as the usb ports and stuff, I'm sure there are reviews elsewhere that explain it quite well.

    First off, the computer SPECS

    Processor
    4th Generation Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor( 2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)

    Operating System
    Windows 8 64

    Display
15.6" FHD LED Glare Wedge 1920x1080

    Graphics
    NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB

    Memory
    8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz

    Hard Drive
    1TB 5400 RPM+24GB SSD

    Optical Drive
    DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)

    Network Card
    Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230

    Bluetooth
    Bluetooth Version 4.0

    Battery
    6 Cell Lithium-Ion

    AESTHETICS
In my opinion, one of the sweetest looking laptops I've laid my eyes on. From a relatively professional exterior to a red back-lit keyboard internally gives, in my opinion, a 9 out of ten.

    KEYBOARD AND TRACK PAD
The red back-lit keyboard with three level(off, med, high) gets high ratings in my book for its very game-ish style and feel. However, my rating lowers a bit here because the trackpad to me is just AWFUL. I way prefer two button for left and right and then the rest to move the mouse. Overall, give those two a 8 out of ten because of the horrendous trackpad, just my opinion though once again.

    GAMING
This in my opinion is an absolute beast when it comes to gaming, for me at least. My model comes with the single gt750m graphics card from Nvidia and destroys anything I throw at it(so far). My personal preference is League of Legends for games, and this is pretty much a joke for this laptop. Runs on Ultra or Very high, max EVERYTHING and get solid 60 fps throughout no lag, or micro stuttering from previous knowledge. Also due to my 24 gb ssd, I usually load to one hundred percent ~8 seconds. I also downloaded which I believe a graphically intense game Aion, and that game is maxed out as well, I don't know the fps but I'm sure it's at least 50+ from the looks of it.

    AUDIO/MICROPHONE/WEBCAM
I don;t know where to start, an absolute Monster. Super crisp and loud JBL speakers that are just simply put, amazing. The Microphone is decent, also very clear. And the webcam is HD however the quality could be better, but for the price I paid, well worth it.

    WIFI
Ehh, I guess this is where alot of money was saved. Old centrino something... I bet someone doing their research can find it :p Anyways, older model from 2012 and not the best, as well as I don't think it can support 5ghz if that's any sort of deal breaker.

    CONCLUSION
Overall, beast laptop with all of a gamer's need on a budget. I would totally recommend this laptop if you're willing to spend around 1000 plus tax!

If anyone has any questions I didn't answer go ahead and ask. Like I said, just sharing my opinion with the laptop and shoot me your questions!

I was wondering how the battery life is if you were to just have Wi-Fi on, have MS Office open, and maybe a few tabs opened on Chrome?

Thanks for the great review! Had a few questions though, was the ram 1x8GB or 2x4GB? I'm looking to order pretty much the same model but the SLi version, and I believe it has 2x4GB. Also, did you have any problems with setting up your wifi connection? Is it stable for you? Like you (and many others) said, the card isn't really up to par with the other components with this model, from what I understand.

Oh, and do you know the dimensions of the laptop? There's 2 places offering the y510p here, other one has it for ~$131 cheaper, but that one has way bigger dimensions for some reason, a shorter warranty and 2x4GB ram instead of 1x8GB.

    Cheers!

    Nice review,

Do you have the SLI or single GPU (dvd drive) model?

    My Y510p is a 2x4. The dimensions of it are 15" x 10" x 1 7/16". The height isn't exact, but it's around that number.

I saw somewhere if you change the trackpad setting to just pointer and 2 mouse buttons and turn off all the gestures it's much better. Can't say for sure since I don't use it at all. I only use a mouse.

    Cheers,

@Avader battery life with wifi on defintely depends on what you're doing. From my experience so far, I can get roughly 3-3.5 hours watching youtube, browsing the web, etc. I have not tried playing any games at all so far on battery, but if you do, expect bad quality and horrendous battery life.

Alrighty, thanks for the info. I'm getting mine next week, we'll see what's in it. Also, I got confirmation from the head of sales at the company that the processor is an i7-4700MQ, not the 4702MQ many others elsewhere have received. Also the screen should be "matte". I found this interesting since I figured they no longer made the 4700MQ models with matte screens, but we'll see next week :) If anyone is interested in whether the newest models have these, I can report back when I have it.
