I've ordered the Y510p from Canada Computers (CC) on July 16th, and it's been 11 days since the order has changed. It tells me that the "Order is Confirmed". Does anyone know if they will update me on anything or will it stay like that for another month. Also, I got the CC shipping, do I get a tracking number on that? Several employee's told me that the estimated date that they would get it (and I could pick it up) was August 1-10th, then another said July 30th, then another told me that they aren't getting it for a few weeks. Any help is appreciated.

I ordered a Y580 too last year. As far as I know, they ship the laptops in batch, about once per month from China. So YMMV, you can get ur laptop shipped very soon or very late depending on the time of the month of your order
You will get tracking number once it is on its way. If I'm not mistaken, It took about a week to reach my place (Ohio) after it shipped.
Relax a bit and it will be there in no time -
Oh thanks a lot! But waiting isn't fun at all. Especially more than a month.
-
Ordered mine on june 10th and got it on the 28th.
My little finger tells me you will be getting it at the end of the month. -
Funny you say that, I read another of your posts saying that, and figured mine would come on the 31st since 18 days
But I haven't gotten a shipping update. Maybe Canada Computers is bugged.
-
Ordered mine from Lenovo's official website (free shipping). -
Yeah, Canada computers has the 16gb 750 SLI version. Decided to get that. But shipping is going to take awhile. They said they have 30 laptops coming in on the 30th, but they don't know if mine's in there. Hope for the best. Also, their Customer Support sucks..

(offtopic)
Bought an ASUS corporate edition mobo from them a year ago. Decided to return it after malfunction. Even though i was still under warranty, the employee decided to completely screw me over and then blamed me for the malfunction, even though ASUS specifically recalled their faulty mobos.
So i sent a call from ASUS trying to get a replacement. 8 Calls later they still couldnt service me, and i couldnt get a replacement for my recalled 1156 socket mobo i paid 150$ for. Found me a cheap Gigabyte on TigerDirect.ca, and never looked back.
Proudly never buying from ASUS or CC ever again.

The laptops are shipped from china (where they are assembled), to a service dept. in the US (for me it was Kentucky), then to the service dept. in Canada, then to your home/retailer. -
Yea, never buying from them ever again. I might cancel the Y510p though and go for a Sager NP8270-S. Quicker shipping anyway.
-
Imho the best service companies are Acer (good and cheap), Apple (good but pricey) and Boutique brands like Eurocom (which have in-dept knowledge of their laptops).
Ive gotten better Lenovo tech support by sending a PM to their youtube channel than from their calls.
However, i do like my Y410P. -
Nvm, just called they said they expect shipments tomorrow or Wednesday and they'll be in-store by next week. If that's true, I'm all for Y510p, if not, I'm cancelling and ordering an MSI or something else.
-
Get a Sager/Clevo if you don't get the laptop on time.
(Source: Reviews + Saw a MSI GE60 @ My local computer shop and it was blazing hot and noisy) -
Yea, I was going to get either Sager or MSI, but I can't find a good place for Sagers. XoticPC has it, but it's like $50 shipping.. same for the official Sager place. Also MSI GT70, doesn't it have the super fan button?
-
And im not familiar with the "super fan".
Best bet is to wait another week for the Y510P, call Lenovo/CC if you have issues, and if you finally dont get it, order off Sager's official site, at least the 50$ will ensure that it will be shipped faster. -
You do make some really good points. The "super fan" I was referring to is this little button beside the keyboard light up button and it makes the fans go on overdrive for as long as you want it to (of course prolonged use will just wear it down). It's supposed to cool it down really fast. But I think I'll stick with your plan. Wait another week, if it's shipped, I'll grab it and if not. Sager it is with faster shipping.
EDIT: How are you enjoying your Y410? -
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/724759-y410p-full-review.html -
The only thing I'm really worried about is the fan blowing air out on SLI mode to my hand... We'll see! More waiting! (Hopefully it ships today or tomorrow, according to a CC rep).
-
But i do assume i could get a little bothersome. -
If you decide to go with sager reflex notebook is Canadian reseller you pay the price free shipping and they take care of all the fees

Hi, I ordered the y510p 59370001 on 2013/07/21. My status just changed to Released to Manufacturing. I'm in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. I ordered off the Lenovo website in Canada. My shipping date is still the original 2013/08/01 with a delivery date of 2013/08/08. I'm waiting patiently and will let you know of any further developments. I just joined this site after lurking since i first ordered. Lots of good info.Thanks.
-
Welcome to the forums! I'd like to know when you got it because mine was supposed to ship yesterday/today. Guess I have to wait until tomorrow to call them and see what happened. Canada Computers doesn't honour their dates.
EDIT: No shipping updates. Will call them when their store opens. -
Hi my status changed again today saying it has been shipped and a few hours ago I got a tracking number from Ups. Still says delivery on the 8th. I'll let you know.

Those scumbags. Unfortunately, not everyone at CC is like that.
Last time i went to CC, went to buy a Radeon 6870 on boxing day sale 2011, think it was like 200 bucks or something. So i waited for an hour in line at the Ottawa store, then 3 people left in line before i went to buy out my Radeon. The 3rd guy in front of me took the last one. So i went to the counter, asked if they had any on the back. Guy said they were out, but he decided to sell me a GTX 560 (which has the exact same specs, but from nvidia) for like 60$ off.
(note that both of these cards were brand new at the time)
Walked outta there like a boss, hope something like that happens to you if they ship it too late -
-
-
I've checked that but I can't find the EXACT same model on Lenovo, weird right? I can find the same specs, but it doesn't come with the ultrabay bluray combo. So I guess the extra $30 they put on is the bluray ultrabay? It's $1300 on CC and Lenovo $1279.20 (before tax).
-
This one has 16 gigs o' ram and a Blu Ray drive.
Also, it has 2MB of graphics ram ( is this, 1995?) but they probs meant 2GB.
1179$. -
I should come to you for all my laptop finding needs... Still kind of want a bluray player though. Sigh..

Amazon.com: Blu-Ray USB External Player DVDRW: Computers & Accessories
Then with the money saved, buy a HDD caddy off ebay (link below) and then Raid 0 this puppy
New 9 5mm 2nd SSD HDD Hard Drive Optical Bay Caddy Adapter for Lenovo Y400 Y500 | eBay
Or give lenovo a call and buy the drive off a rep, just be aware you will probably be paying more than if you get an external. -
But I think external's are a hassle, friend has one, it's kind of like carrying a big mouse. I think I might just stick with what I have, since that's $30 which is basically the difference from CC and Amazon
I'll just call tomorrow and check how my order's going because last time I checked it was Lenovo -> CC Warehouse. If it's not going from Warehouse -> CC Ontario, I'm going to die.
-
As for me, im sticking with my DVD burner, im old-school
If i had 400$ more and no need for a DVD drive, would have probably bought a Sager NP7330, in case you are wondering, but hey, some of us are on a budget, and none of the computers in my siggy costed me higher than 850$ CAD. -
EDIT: Called today but they need to call their "FM". Since it's Civics Day, have to call tomorrow. -
Hi guys, I've been tracking mine on ups. 08/02/2013 10:16 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS:

Concord, ON, Canada 08/07/2013 12:58 A.M. Departure Scan:
Scheduled Delivery:Thursday, 08/08/2013, By End of Day
Hopefully they are right and I'll get it tomorrow. It also says signature required. Can't wait. I'll let you know. -
I also noticed that since I bought it. It is now on sale for 50 bucks less. Do you think if I contact lenovo they will refund me or give me credit or something, considering I haven't even got it yet? I posted info before this post but it isn't on yet, said it has to go through moderator.

Q.Q -
Okay, thanks. I don't understand the "screw you" part but if you mean it. Right back at ya.

New update for those interested Dieppe, NB, Canada 08/07/2013 8:05 P.M. Arrival Scan
Scheduled Delivery:Thursday, 08/08/2013, By End of Day
Looks like I will get it later today. So Order date and time: 21/07/13 3:08
Total 18 days from order date. Not bad, thought it would take longer. I'm not gloating, just relaying info as asked. Will update, when I recieve it. -
Mine says "Released to Manufacturing" what ever that means, But it was suppose to ship Aug 8 and arrive Aug 13 but i doubt that will happen.
-
Hi PhD, I ordered mine July 21 my status changed to released to manufacturing July 31 and then aug 2 it changed to has been shipped and a couple hours later I got a ups tracking number. So you might be close.
-
But the thing is that, they gave me an estimated shipping date of August 8th
-
Yeah, I understand and the best thing to do is just be patient. I know you want it and it will come. It won't help you to get stressed over it. At this point you have no control. My estimated date was Aug 1 and it shipped on august 2 so like I said you might be close. Sorry man that's all I can tell you. I reported the whole transaction starting on page 3. It might give you an idea of how it works.
-
OK, so I got my new y510p. It seems to work great. I just have to figure out how to do some stuff. Like change font size. I played with Windows 8 for about an hour and when I got to the point where I was going to throw my new com at the wall, I figured I better download Start8. Which I did and now I can actually use my new com. Mine came with the 4700MQ, as for graphics all I can see is intel (R) HD Graphics 4600 so is this supposed to be this NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB or am I looking at the wrong thing? Keyboard is nice, touchpad is jumpy so I'm using my mouse which I was going to do any way. If you have questions let me know and if anyone knows about that graphics thing any help would be appreciated. I also downloaded chrome because I hate internet explorer. My wife is jealous of my keyboard and the pretty lights. Lol!!
-
2. To change GPUs, go to Nvidia control panel--) 3d settings --) Preferred Graphics processor
3. The trackpad jumpiness can be solved by disabling some multitouch features such as rotation -
Hi Jobine702 ,No I don't have SLI. When would I want to switch GPUs? As far as the trackpad I'm just using my mouse but thanks for the info, I'll keep it in mind. Oh yeah, I didn't mention that the speakers are the best I've heard on a laptop. I did find the nvidia control panel but not quite sure yet if I should touch anything.
