Non-SLI's have Optimus. My Y410P has Optimus, and it works great.

SLI's have optimus if you use a small hack (unconfirmed, still need someone to test the hack for me, see this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/728000-y510p-optimus-sli.html). Im giving a free rep point to whoever tests this.

Y500/Y400 (ivy bridge) models have no optimus because their Intel HD 4000 Chip is physically disabled or absent to cut costs.

EDIT: Hack doesnt work, looks like SLI and Optimus aren't compatible.

EDIT2: Hack is confirmed to work!!! You can now have SLI and Optimus on your Y510p if you reinstall all your drivers :D

I would try it, if my laptop came in (thanks CC). They won't give me a straight answer about anything. Will try when I do get it if nobody else has.

Nope, but you can grab the W7 drivers here and do a clean install (recommended on any laptop):

A clean install is done by formatting the hard drive, then installing the medium contaning the OS and installing a fresh copy of the OS.

On the Y510P, it is done by simply pressing the button on the side, opening the BIOS, disabling UEFI and Secure Boot, then opening the boot menu, booting off your Windows 7 DVD/USB then installing windows 7.

What does "windows 8 install 7" mean?

Sorry, to clarify. Like downgrade windows 8. Like a clean install as explained above.

How to cleaninstall the Y510P (Assuming you have your own Windows 7 USB and License)

    0. BACKUP whatever is important to you, and use Belarc Advisor to extract the Windows 8 serial just in case.
    1. Power off the laptop, open the lid, press button on side.
    2. Open bios, disable Secure Boot and Set UEFI mode to legacy
    3. Save and exit. Poweroff, press side button, boot from Windows 7 USB
    4. Erase everything on the HDD and Install Windows 7.
    5. Download drivers here: Drivers and software - IdeaPad Y510p Notebook. Do not install the Intel Wifi drivers, use the provided 14.8 ones instead.
    6. Download the latest graphic drivers from Nvidia and Intel.
7.If your laptop came with the 24GB SSD: Open Disk Management, Erase the 24GB SSD, leave it as freespace, then install this: ExpressCache Software for Windows 7 64bit, Windows 8 64bit - ThinkCentre, ThinkPad
    8. Done! Enjoy Windows 7.

Then you have to add on shipping and taxes. So $1200 approx. And shipping will probably take longer no?

On the download page, in the Networking: Wireless LAN section, there is an Intel WLAN driver version 15.6, dont install it, and use the 14.8 drivers that are built into Windows 7 instead.

Shipping from Lenovo is 4 days to 4 weeks. Also, i think if you order by phone you can charge like 20$ for overnight.

If I got that shipping... Seems that I haven't gotten mine yet, also, CC removed the model of the y510p from their website.. Gotta call and ask what's going on soon.. They probably cancelled the orders if anything.

Found some Y510P's on Tigerdirect.ca, one 1099 and one 1199, though none of them are marked as SLI, despite the fact that no Y510P in that price range comes without SLI... Sketchy...

Theres always Lenovo, they have slow shipping but on the bright side, the shipping is free and it is guaranteed to be delivered.

Something weird is going on with my shipping. The tracking number doesn't work (I called and lenovo said it was an internal tracking number for delivery from the factory to them but the estimated delivery date was still suppose to be correct) and now it shows as being delivered (a few days early) but I am pretty sure it didn't get delivered to my house before 8 am this morning, lol. I hope that was just the delivery to lenovo and it still has to ship to my place. Anybody else with the same issues?

Weird, mine still says it has been delivered and there is no expected delivery date listed. I have no idea where the laptop is but I know it isn't at home since somebody has been home all day.

Ok, the lenovo rep was right, the tracking number I had was from the factory to Lenovo Canada. When I click on it now it gives me a different tacking number and the status for now "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated." So I guess no laptop for me this weekend :(
