It has been done before, I suggest you look at y500 disasembly videos on YouTube. Also consult the hardware maintenance manual to find out which panels are compatible with the laptop.

The main concerns with this upgrade is that it might void your warranty (however NBR user EmberV has upgraded his screen and was still able to get serviced by Lenovo by reinstalling the original one) and that you must be sure to not break any plastic clips when taking off the bottom plate.

Tks Jobine for your replay.I did read the hardware maintenence manual and i also look at you tube vide y500 related. The thingh is in the video the guy just take out the screen bezel "un clipping it" while in the manual looks like you need to take out two screw from the two bottom side of the bezel to be able to take it out and you cannot just reach them if you do not dismantle the entire laptop...looks like the bezel assembly is differentely made for the y500 and the y500p..

Well, you will need to entirely disassemble the laptop if you want to replace the screen. PM "EmberV" if you need help with this, he kowns more than i do.

Let us know how it goes. I'm curious if a new ribbon lcd cable is needed.
