I have a Y530 which came with Vista 64-bits. The funny thing is that my windows performance score went down from 3.7 to 3.5 when I upgraded to Win 7 ultimate but i guess it must be the new rating system so a 3.5 is equivalent to 3.7 now?

Anyway, I have had some minor issues. I reinstalled the function key drivers of Vista 64 but can't seem to use the touch keys which give jazz, live, pop effects to the sounds. Also, my dolby control center touch key is disable though the program is installed and perhaps even running. Does that mean my dolby control center is not working? I have put my ear to the subwoofer at the bottom and hear sound but my perception has been that the sound quality level has gone down some bit.

I tried to make the dolby control center run in Vista-64 compatibility, but still the touch key issue remains unlike the veriface which worked when I made it Vista compatible. I don't think drivers should be the issue since Win 7 is based on the Vista platform and hence Win-64 drivers should have worked for the touch keys.

You didn't say where you got the Ultimate and therefore what came with it in the way of software. If it's an ordinary system, you need to install the Thinkpad drivers for the functions you want.

I believe Vista rates on a 5.0 scale and Win7 uses an 8.0 scale as far as performance ratings go.

Wouldn't be able to tell you about the other stuff though. I've never actually used Vista and have only limited experience with Win7.

Ultimate will be same everywhere, wouldn't it? I think it only gives you bit encryption and the ability to download different language pack for menus.
