    Hello,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to replace the CPU in the Y550? I am looking to buy one with the lowest end CPU they offer, and then swap in a Core 2 Duo I have as a spare. Thanks!

Although I do not have it, I am 99% sure the CPU is not soldered to the mainboard, so it can be replaced. That, however, will void your warranty (so swap it back before sending it in for any warranty service if necessary). Also, are you sure the C2D you have is compatible? Is it a Montevina-generation laptop CPU?

Thanks for the info. I am pretty sure the CPU should be compatible. It is a T9300 (2.5ghz).
