Do they make a modular 2nd hard drive bay for the ideapad like they do for the Thinkpads?

They don't make them for IdeaPads. However, the caddys available here may be worth looking into. They are available for laptops in general.
    More specifically, this one.

You will be able to use both the 9.5mm and 12.5mm 2.5" SATA hard drives with this hard drive adapter. The 12.5mm hard drives are available up to a maximum capacity of 1TB.

In that sense it's even more useful than a real Ultrabay?! Does it really work reliably and without destroying connectors? Is it fast?
