    eGPU thread

stumbled upon this enormous thread, seems really interesting. Not sure how much of a boost it'll give over the ATI 5730 in the y560.

Has anyone done this who has a ATI 5730 or something similar - any significant boost in gpu power? benkmarking?

You'll be limited by a PCI-E x1 interface (I believe) so I don't think performance would be that greatly improved. Your (and my) 5730 is plenty adequate for gaming at the laptop's native res of 1366x768 so I wouldn't bother.

1x, dang it  been trying to figure out if it was 1 or 2x, hoping it was 2x.

    Thanks!

Well that's from what I read in the topic, I thought everything was 1x. If it's possible to get 2x, I don't know about it. My desktop is my eGPU so I haven't looked into it too closely.

ahh okay, yeah trying to see if there is a way to get 2x. You might be right. If there is a way to get 2x though.. very tempting to do this mod.
