    Hello,

    I have this Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 06465CU.

Does anyone have any idea how can I fix this sceen problem?
I don't have warranty anymore, so I have to fix it by myself.

Does anyone knows what could it be what is broken?
Could it be expensive to fix?

As you can see on the pictures, the problem is only there when I use the internal LCD display.
Works OK if I use the VGA output port.

    Thanks!

the problem can be caused by:

    1. a bad LCD.
    2. a faulty LCD cable
    3. a bad motherboard.

The hole motherboard? Couldn't just be a small-simple-replace-thing?

Do you think that the only one that could fix the computer will be Lenovo?

if you know which part of the motherboard is broken then you will be able to fix it, but you don't have the necessary tool to do so. Anyone can repair the laptop if they know what they are doing and where to obtain the parts.

If you pipe out the display externally with NO issues then most likely your GPU on the motherboard is fine, but always a chance it could be defective.

Unfortunately the only way to rule out the motherboard/LCD/LVDS cable is replacing them with known good components to rule out one another. I would start with the cable, it should be around ~20 dollars. I have seen that issue plenty of times, usually it is the LCD.

the motherboard looks perfectly fine.   it's either the LCD or a broken connection in the cable.   judging by the pictures i'm leaning toward it being the LCD itself.

So, looks like it won't be easy to repair.
    Not good news at all.

I thougt it was a simple part or a simple diagnosis.

Always purchase as much warranty as possible. If you don't, you will have a mess on your hands when parts fail.

LCD replacements aren't terrible except on consumer HP notebooks. Download the service manual off Lenovo's website.

    Haha!
I'm thinking to fix the Y560 by myself, because Lenovo here in Argentina is not fixing it.

This is the second computer they gave me, and every time they give me a worst and worst computer.

So, even now that I have more than 10 monts of warranty: I'm thinking about fixing it my self... just to find a solution to the problem.

OK, I'll keep that in mind.

The first thing I have to do, is find someone who sells the LCD panel here in Argentina.

Thanks all for your comments, thoughts and ideas.

Hrm well looks like getting parts will be challenging on your end. You may have to buy OEM from Ebay, who knows how much Lenovo would charge.
