    hi all

since months i've been interresting in Y560p model, coz i've been searching for an entertainment laptop with powerful cpu, gpu, lots of ram, and most importantly great speakers, for a reasonable price.

so, when watchin youtube videos, once i commented in a y560p video, replying to someone says: thinkpads are good, ideapad are pathetic.. i replied asking: why? pls explain? (coz i wanna know the truth about it, i don't wanna buy it and be disappointed) , he replied:

quality. i bought ideapad y560 few months ago coz of it's great specs, design and supposedly fantastic speakers. speakers lost quality within a few months and are now buzzing and vibrating. left hinge that holds the screen broke on its own, laptop is overheating and hard drive started screeching and now has ~80 bad sectors. laptop is off to repair, 2 weeks now, nobody e-mailed me or anything. btw, screen is substandard ever for 2000 laptops. inspiron 6400 is fine after 4y of use

i was shocked  is it really this crap? i know he's talking about the y560 "with the older generation cpu" but, what's the difference, he's talking about the build quality... which is important to me.. and he said the speakers lose its quality O_O r u kidding me??

the weird thing is that he mentioned the inspiron of dell, which i owned and SOLD! mine was n5010 core i7 aluminum edition. despite being fast, i didn't feel comfortable witn it & i'll never buy an inspiron again! hard disk making wierd sounds, VERY loud fan, too much heating even when i'm only using firefox XD as of speakers, people say it's amazing!! with the premium srs sound!! well in my openion it totally sucks! jbl & harman/kardon speakers are way better.. and if i'm gonna buy a new laptop i'll make sure it has one of these two awesome speakers.

pls, Y560p owners.. is that true? tell me ur experience with it, how's the build quality, is it at least acceptable? does speakers lose quality by time? does the laptop heats TOO much when gaming? are you happy with the laptop?

    thanks :)

My JBL speakers are still kickin' after 1 year and 4 months of heavy use. Sounds like the person has extremely bad luck, or is simply lying. From the few posts about the y460p/y560p, it seems the quality has really gone down from last years models. Cheap is the word usually thrown around. You may want to look at the y470/y570 as there is more feedback on those laptops and they seem better. I'm not sure what you're looking for, but the HP dv6t may be worth a look. Beats audio, 1080p screen, ATi 6770M, etc.

thanks AboutThreeFitty, i'm really confused :( the y560p was on of my main choices.. i was searching for an entertainment laptop with great cpu & gpu, great internal speakers >> hard rock fan :D " 15.6 screen, and my choices are:

    toshiba satellite a665-s5183x
    hp dv6t select edition
    dell xps 15
    lenovo y560p

and my budget is around $1100 ..here's what i think
the satellite: i read a review, they say it's just bad
the hp dv6t: u mentioned it, good suggestion! despite i'm not sure about the speakers
dell xps 15: didn't like the design at all
lenovo y560p: i decided to choose this bcoz it has all the features i was looking for :)

as for the y570, sadly the design is too classical! i made a little comparison between 570 and y560p

it might sound silly but i do care about design more than specs :D LOL "coz if not i would go for an asus" anyways there's no much of a difference between the two lenovo's, at least for me.

sorry for talking a little too much  i'm just confused and need an advise
    do u recommend the hp dv6t over lenovo's y560p?
hp full hd version is a bit higher in price but with customizing i'll be fine lol

I can only recommend the HP over the y560p as it is a known product. I feel you're taking a chance picking the y560p as few people have given feedback and those who did, weren't too thrilled by it. You may want to start a thread in the What Notebook Should I Buy? It will allow more people who are experienced in other brands to give input. Also, if you're not too picky about screen size, other laptops may fit the bill just as well. (HP Envy 14; Great laptop.)

I really, really hate how the fn key has been swapped with the LCTRL key in y560. The only thing I overlooked. I don't want to get off topic, but anyway I can swap the binds on these keys?

I don't really use my speakers because I go on Vent with my headset, but at most times, when I wanna learn some music, it's fantastic and I've had this for about for 5 months. Old generation CPU? So? It was fast in it's day and it still is. Better than any processor I've ever used.

BTW, is there a big difference between the y560 and y560p models?

thank you AboutThreeFitty, you've been very helpful :)

hi Shobster, no you can't, how can you change their places lol. but don't worry you'll get used to it :D
as for the cpu, ofcourse yours is fast and i didn't mean it's "old" i said "older" , i meant it's a previous one.
and the difference is that y560p %30 faster, maybe you won't need this. btw, how's ur laptop? no issues so far? i hope you're enjoying it ;)

It's good so far, a minor issue was that my laptop wanted to boot from my external hard drive with the error "BOOTMGR" is missing, so I just switched the boot priority order around. What factors make the y560p 30% faster than the y560? Faster hard drive? 2nd Gen Processor? What?

Yes, it is at your own risk. If it isn't bothering you all that much, I would just leave it alone. You might even get used to it after a while.

Then I will not risk it. It's only a problem when I done goofed on many FPSs, but muscle memory is working just fine to remember where that pesky LCTRL key is.
