I would like to do a fresh Win 7 Ultimate install on my Y570.

Is there anything I need to know in advance from users that have done this?

I plan to install the OS to the SSD and have the HDD as a data drive.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

***The forum search doesn't seem to work properly, so I figured I'd make a new thread.***

Thank you, I had already done that step.

Is there not any other feedback on this issue?

You don't need anything else besides that folder.

HI, I try to do a fresh installation of windows 7 enterprise, but when I did it, I have a message "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information." I think that is anything with the SSD.
Anybody know something about this issue?

If you want to manually install to the SSD, you have to write a boot sector to the SSD, as it isn't initialized by Lenovo and the Windows installer won't recognize it. Just use an Ubuntu live distro and use the disc partitioner included to write the boot sector (gparted). Use Windows 7's installer to format the SSD, as it will automatically align it for you.

...i had to do this for my y560p anyway. I have a y570 on the way though.

Also, gparted may have its own live distro, but I don't recall.

    Gentlemen,
I have a Y560 that I had sent back to Lenovo for a missing operating system. They sent it back, i placed my user info in and rebooted. BSOD! I was thinking breaking the rapiddrive apart and utilizing the SSD for just the OS files with the HD becoming the data drive. My problem is as follows
    1) the SSD is not found in the bios... or at least i can't find anywhere that says that(didn't know if there was a hidden bios access code)
    2) when i try and run the rapiddrivetool.exe I get the run failure error.
To date i have not been able to do anything with the system, they are sensing me a set of recovery disks..... Is there anyway to break the partitions , the program mentioned above doesnt recognize the SSD in my system. Is there a way to tell if the SSD was even replaced or is functional?
    Thanks in advance
