I'm considering getting the Y570, but considering the Y580 specs have been released, is it worth waiting for or should I just go ahead with the 570? Do people know when the Y580 is coming out or is it just speculation at this point?

Release and shipping in May. If you can wait a couple of months, it's worth it yes due to the screen upgrade and better processor.

I would recommend the upcoming Y580 if you can wait, otherwise you might really want to check to make sure the Y570's 1366x768 screen is good enough. I'd hesitate to recommend the Y570 over a FHD-screen laptop when there are any suitable FHD laptops available.

I hope the shipping date is early may? I wonder what battery life these can expect.

I hope so as well, but it looks like June 5th is the date. There's a leaked Lenovo pdf floating around that mentions that.

well the price of the y570 is pretty good right now, 750 for the one with the 2gb 555m and i7 2.2ghz [2nd gen though]
if you dont need the 6xx or ivy bridge and can manage with the older screen, its on sale here and there so you might get a great deal
