I wanted to share my experience ... (Sorry for my english, french-native..)
First of all, this is my first Lenovo (My girlfriend has a Y560D with a 3d screen)
I ordered this laptop on 3th august. Lenovo emailed a shipping confirmation on 10th, got it on 17th. Mfg date: 9th august 2011. Despite the horror stories about shipping, this is not the case![]()
This is the specs of my model (Canadian):
Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor ( 2.30GHz 1333MHz 3MB )
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB
6 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
15.6 " HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768
750gb 5400 rpm (WD7500BPVT)
DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)
Intel 1000 BGN Wireless
Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
6 Cell Lithium-Ion
For a whopping 769$ + tax
Why I bought this ?
I wanted a little gaming laptop to be able play games when out of town.. and it really fits this need !! Don't care if it's low/med/high settings (my desktop with GTX 580 takes the rest xD)
My last laptop was an Inspiron N5010 with HD graphics (couldn't even play minecraft holy cow...)
First of all, the GT555M performs really well despite the case that is the low version one.
Here is the list I have tested (pre-installed 268.44)
Metro 2033: DX9 with low settings :: fluently Playable
Bad Company 2 :: Medium settings :: fluently Playable
Company of Heroes :: Default settings lowered Texture and Shader :: fluently playable
Minecraft :: Must add javaw.exe into Optimus
Frozen Synapse :: Lags if not added into Optimus
No crash, blue screen, system works pretty well. Didn't reinstall OS.
Maybe an advice, don't choose another mode than «Adaptive» on Nvidia Control Panel, because the system ran hotter with Preferred Performance Mode and I didn't see any difference on performance...
The 1366x768 default screen is decent (this is an LG LGD02DC), I could say it's about the same as my Inspiron. but sufficient for me. Also, no dead pixels. (Always had dead pixels when bought my 2 HPs (N8430 and 8730W)) If you check relly close, you can see little grids, but it's really faint .. but you don't notice them when normal usage.
I'm surprised about the quality for a ~750$ laptop. It has a great cooling management, great gpu, the keyboard is good (didn't take long to type on it).GF typed on it today and she said she liked the keyboard layout (yay!)
The screen lid holds fine/decent, but I feel maybe a little bit more of quality build would make it good.
Y560D vs Y570, I better like the y570's build and specs, my GF's one runs really hot when playing games (1st i7 gen), and it needs a laptop cooling fan below, if not = chance to see a BSOD xD ...
Oh, and on the right side of the laptop, there's 2 blue USB ports. Have not tested them, but looks like USB 3.0![]()
Overall, this is a little good laptop![]()

You don't have to add javaw.exe into Optimus in order to get minecraft to use the nvidia card, although it is more convenient than the other way. I personally don't really like the idea of having my graphics card be used every time java is used when I'm browsing.
The other way is to right-click on minecraft.exe, go to "Run with graphics processor" and click on the nvidia card and it'll work that way. You'd have to do that every single time you want to play minecraft though, but it's something I can live with.
With the usual tweaking that comes with all new laptops, I quite like the Y570 as well. Still getting used to having a keyboard that has a numpad, which compacts the nearby keys (but I sure do like typing on it haha). -
@ darkmax
What's the rated battery capacity that came with the i5-2410M Y570? -
@MrEngenious:
Hey, thanks for your tip
Removed javaw.exe from the gpu list

@Nemix77
the battery is a L10P6F01 (6-cell / 62Wh) -
Did you turn the little switch at the bottom right on. (the nVidia GPU switch) it makes a little light come on. (it's off by default) It's at the from of the notebook in the front-right side of the of the base. I know optimus "should" do the work for you, but it doesn't! PIece of crap doesn't kick in or go max in all kinds of games. I can run company of heroes on high/very high and I have same specs as you. And I only found that switch last week, it basically doubled my gaming fps and settings, no joke. (destroys battery life though) -
I've read it in some posts (the lounge topic :: which takes long.. xD), and I knew it was for the GPU, I already turned it on
Ah, for Company of Heroes, I just lowered a little bit (like Ultra to Very High, and Very High to High) Because it was laggy in the 2nd allies campaign with aircraft guns and lights.
