    Hi All,

I've read most Y580 threads on here and also all but about 30 pages of the owners thread so far but I haven't seen the answer to my question or if I have, I can't remember the answer.

Basically, I wan't to replace the 64GB mSATA with a 256GB M4 mSATA and use it as my OS drive plus some applications.

This will obviously kill One Key Recovery. Is there any way to get One Key Recovery working from scratch or using whats on the 1TB spinner?

    Cheers.

I think this has been discussed already, the Owner's thread has 3 different pages about installing OS. As for OKR, I think there's a thread on how to do it though the author says he doesn't personally use an mSATA SSD so he can't guarantee if it'll work with the SSD. Here's the link for the OKR thread, http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/688883-how-restore-onekey-recovery-function-after-changing-partition-size-y580-maybe-others.html

If you also need instructions for OS on mSATA SSD, just ask and I'll either write the post or just link you the page in the Owner's Thread.

    Thanks for the reply.

I saw that thread earlier, but as you mentioned, that is only for a single drive without using an mSATA. From what I gathered, he was only resizing partitions also rather than using bare drives?

I'll have another quick read of it.

As for installing the OS on an mSATA, that won't be an issue. I've seen this thread for order in which to install drivers to get all but OKR working: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/680517-y580-driver-install-guide.html

Not having OKR isn't the end of the world but I don't really like having dead buttons on the laptop. Also it's a pretty useful feature.

Edit: Ok, it looks like he has got instructions for a clean install.. Will have to have a proper look at it.
