    As in the thread title.

I have had a few other minor software niggles with this laptop (which I have fixed), but can't seem to fix the display brightness issue, where I cannot alter the brightness using the normal Fn + arrowkeys.

    Any suggestions?

You might want to provide more information. Did you do a clean install? Or are you running it with all the applications that comes with it?

If you did a clean install installing the brightness hotfix in the drivers folder or lenovo download page should help you out.

Install the Energy Management software. The on screen display is controlled by that software.

That's weird, I uninstalled the energy management software few weeks ago and my FN key + brightens arrows still works.

Also, try installing lockkey from the Lenovo partition.

Ahh, this is the typical notebook review forum that I know of. Post a thread, and receive replies at the earliest 48 hours after posting :D

I have already fixed the problem, but had to use the easy way out by using Windows recovery point.

I am still perplexed as to why this issue occurred, I have a strong suspicion it was some sort of Windows update that caused it, as reported by many users on other IdeaPad notebooks in the Lenovo forum.

Running with stock supplied OS and programs, no clean install.

Brightness hotfix? Never heard of that, sounds interesting. Should I encounter the problem again, I will try this. Thanks.

Already have it, due to stock OS.

Lockkey? Huh? Any more information on what this is buddy?

What a weird problem it was. Thanks for the replies anyway people.

Lockkey is the on-screen display (OSD) of what fn+key you activated/deactivated
