Hi everyone, I've been searching for a solution for some time, but have been unable to find one. I just got a msata SSD for my new Y580 and plan on doing a clean install of Windows 7 later today. I have seen numerous threads where people say they "installed" the drivers that are currently on the D: partition to the SSD after installing windows on the SSD. But I can't figure out how to install the drivers from the D: partition to the SSD. Can anyone provide some advice?

P.S. I saw this link, but it requires downloading all the drivers and then manually running the .exe files one by one. I'm trying to avoid this if at all possible. http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/680517-y580-driver-install-guide.html

    Many thanks!

too bad. that's exactly the way you install the drivers.

yeah, that's what I meant. you go to the d:\drivers folder, and run each setup exe file one by one to install the drivers.

if you still have the d:\drivers folder, you don't have to download anything extra, unless you want more updated intel and nvidia drivers.

    other question regarding partition D
just got my Y580 with 32ssd +1TBHDD - factory settings.
i would now like to separate my Files from the Operating system in 2 different partitions, and because lenovo already uses the 4 main partitions i am unable to create a new partition.
so what i thought of doing is to decrease the size of partition C to just run Windows and some software on it and to increase the size of partition D (lenovo Partition with the Drivers) and save my Files there (without deleting the Drivers and software folders)
my main question would be, if by doing so i would mess up something with the OKR?
or does someone have any other idea how i can divide my hard drive to have the operating system separated from the File without messing up the OKR??
    thanks in advance..

OKR stops working if you resize C

you'll have to restore OKR after you resize by reimaging the OS.

with rapiddrive already installed from factory, it might get a little tricky.

has anyone here tried recovery with factory ssd installed? Is there some special dance you have to do? or does it go off without a hitch?

    thanks for the answer,
so i guess id leave it like it is until id get my self some money for a bigger ssd and do the clean reinstall :)

not sure i understood your question, but i did a recovery to factory setting using OKR (with factory ssd settings) and it worked with no complications - back then i thought i could change the settings of the hard drives using the reinstallation but it was just like starting the computer for the first time - and windows started exactly like it did the first time i've opened the computer..
