    Hello everyone,

I just purchased a brand new Y580 with (only) a 1 TB HDD and FreeDos Accordingly, no (Windows) recovery image on the factory state HDD. I still have a Win7 license which I plan to transfer from my old laptop. Further, I plan to get a 128 GB SSD (Crucial) on which I will install said Win7.
    So far, so good...

Unfortunately, my search in other threads of this forum didn't give me an answer to my specific question/set-up.

The factory state of the HDD is as follows (as indicated by the Win7 set-up screen):
    Drive 0 Partition 1 - Total Size: 29.3 GB - Free Space: 29.2 GB - Type: System
    Drive 0 Partition 2 - Total Size: 29.3 GB - Free Space: 29.2 GB - Type: Primary
Non Allocated Space on Drive - Total Size: 871.8 GB - Free Space: 871.8 GB
    Drive 0 Partition 3: LENOVO_PART - Total Size: 1.1 GB - Free Space: 466.0 MB - Type: OEM (reserved)

I want to to combine all non-used partitions (i.e. also getting rid of the one for FreeDos), however, I don't want to destroy the partition for the One Key Recovery (OKR).

So, which one should I keep? The "drive 0 partition 3" one? That size seems awfully small as it is only 1.1 GB in total. How will the system put a Win7 recovery image on there (which will probably weigh in around 30 GB)?

Somewhere in these forums, I read that the OKR system of this laptop is quite picky about the correct size of the respective partition. I want to avoid having to painfully recreate a partition which the OKR will accept.

So, am I correct to assume that I can kill and combine partitions 1+2+"unallocated" into one?

    Thanks for your replies!

    Cheers,
    Cybid
