The y580 I was using came with a 1080p monitor, so it came with the 40pin cable. I had the laptop open yesterday to swap around panels, but didn't take a photo of the cable. It looks just like the aliexpress cable linked above. I took some photos of the original 1080p panel. You can see the 40pin connector in one of them.

I tried to put the full hd screen in a Z580 and it didnt work. Screen flashed and the resolution was off. Seemingly characteristics of using the wrong cable. I cant seem to find a dual channel cable that fits the motherboard of the z580

I got a z580 and I would like to replace my screen with an IPS panel.

I think my z580 should be capable of dual channel lvds , but I am looking for the right cable.

Question is what is that extra connector on Y580 cable for?

Y580 original dual channel lvds cable (90200854) :

z580 original single channel lvds cable (90200651):

Should be possible to simply "add wires" to the single channel connector? Which would be the schematics to follow?

Or maybe any other lenovo model which got a 40 pin dual lvds channel screen and the same motherboard side connector?
I see this cable listed with various prices also as
    DD0LZ3LC000 DD0LZ3LC010 DD0LZ3LC020 DD0LZ3LC030 DD0LZ3LC040 DD0LZ3LC050
DD0LZ3LC060 I wonder if there is any difference among them, or if any other brand uses that weird ribbon type motherboard connector (what's its technical name btw?).

    PS (just for a laugh)
I found this crazy gui which built a single-dual lvds channel converter on his own

    Hi gnappoman,
Have you tried this Sony cable? Does it work on Z580? I am on the same boat to find a dual channels cable for Y560. From your photo I think they may share the same connectors. With the original old cable, I see nothing on FHD screen... no lights on and no any image. If the Sony cable works for your Z580, I would assume it works for Y560, too.

Ok, I am giving some update for this topic. I successfully installed FHD screen (N156HGE-LA1 Bev C1) on my Y560. Though the LVDS cable I originally have on the laptop seems like a dual channel one, it doesn't light up my screen. I have tried to purchase multiple cables on ebay and finally found one that works.

Hello I have the same screen but are still looking for a cable.
Do you by chance have a link to the ebay auction you bought the cable or have a cable type / description?

Just to keep this topic updated I have a N156HGE-LA1 Bev C1 screen which I want to put on my z580 I have tried the Sony Vaio SVS13 Series LCD Cable (13") LCD(LED), V120 LVDS 2CH Cable 364-0101-1104 cable but it does bot fit. Mainly because the z580 uses a 30 pin connector and dual Channel requires a 40 pin. So sad to say z580 users Are stuck with 786 screenz

    About that y560:

the auction has ended, but, assuming the ebay item number was 271674341010 it re links to here
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Len...341010?hash=item3f410d7692:g:tLIAAOSw0vBUa1Pu

and the item number reported in that auction is finally:
    DDKL3DLC120

    About our damn z580:

I actually bought the sony cable I was talking about earlier
    ( Sony Vaio SVS13 Series LCD Cable (13") LCD(LED), V120 LVDS 2CH Cable
    364-0101-1104, 364-0101-1104_A
    V120 LVDS 2CH CABLE )

but unfortunately, even if the panel side connector is identhical, the motherboard side is wider than the original one , it is of the same kind, but it is larger and does not fit.

    PS
i ended up buying the following excellent non full hd ips screen, which can be used with the standard LVDS cable on the z580 LP156WHA-SLL1
It has been provided from PSI LCD for 75$ ( [email protected] ) and I really reccomend the switch, it is one of the best laptop screens I ever used (and I am currently using it as I am writing this). Also I reccomend to swap the wifi card with a better one (I am currently using an AR946X , but almost any other mini pci express card is better than the default crap). In order to be able to do so, you should first unlock the bios, as described here https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Lenovo-Z580-BIOS-Mod-V3-1-FINAL-02-07-DOWNLOAD

For the record: I usually don't enjoy modifying laptops, but here is the list of components I had to replace, in order to actually make my z580 work properly:

LCD -> IPS (the default LCD is just AWFUL)
LVDS cable -> New LVDS cable (the default cabled was damaged)
Wifi card -> other wifi card (the default wifi card present unfixable driver issues with windows 10)
HD -> SSD (much much faster!)
4gb -> 16gb (much much faster! ps you need to set max memory to 16gb via msconfig prior the upgrade)
4400mah -> 8800mah (the default battery was ok, but now it is better)
Bios -> unlocked (needed to solve issues with graphics card and to swap wifi cards)
PSU -> new PSU (the default one just DIED! To me it never happened such a thing before)
CPU Fan -> new CPU Fan (the default one STUCK !!!!)

I never spent (and wanted to spend) so much money just to fix a notebook, but I did not make all the changes at once, I didn't know.. (of course I would just buy another notebook if I knew).

Issues still present as of today!

1- the keyboard sucks (it has to be pressed vigourosly to work or keystrokes will be skipped)
2- the trackpad really sucks (it is not accurate at all and buttons often misclick)
3- cpu fan is quite loud (maybe I should change the thermal paste...? oooh no...)
