Hi,
I got a Y580 a couple of days ago, and I must say I can't be happier - this is a great machine for the money.
One thing i'm wondering though is how to get the exact same performance when using the battery as when plugged in. I feel like i've tried everything in the system settings and power management, but when for example i play d3 on battery its sluggish, and as i plug the cord in during mid-game, it becomes smooth as silk.
is there some way to get this same performanc? This is upsetting.

Good to know, thank you. -
I just noticed this when playing diablo 3. Plugging it in I get an increase of 20 fps but I did not know that at all. But what you said is it true? And is their no way to fix it?

Gaming on battery - don't do it. Your chemical battery cannot deliver the required 100W+ at 19V and ~5A without killing itself. The internal resistance of the battery would cause massive voltage drops at such high current loading conditions, not to mention a huge amount of heat generated which essentially causes the battery to fry itself. No laptop lithium ion battery is designed for that, so the manufacturers down clock CPU / GPU while on battery. Yes, the GTX 660M is available on battery, but the max clock is very low. There is nothing to fix in terms of hardware and software. The only thing that might change is the lithium ion battery technology - for that, go talk to the chemists, not Lenovo / Intel / NVIDIA / NBR.
